Fimo takes your AI code and gives you an autonomous website. Contentful is a headless CMS: a database for your content with an API in front of it, feeding whatever front end your developers build. The headless CMS era remains crucial for multi-site operators, but with AI coding changing the way companies start new projects, Fimo is the natural next step. Fimo doesn’t care which coding agent you use to build your content models and websites. It plays nice with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and more, turning their code into autonomous websites that optimize and scale themselves. Read the full breakdown Show less Headless meant one thing in 2014, when Contentful launched it: split the content from the presentation, store the content behind an API (the feed a website or app pulls data from), and stay agnostic about the front end, because developers would build one. Contentful still does that better than almost anyone, and since 1 September 2026 it does it as part of Salesforce, which changes who it’s built for more than what it does. The thing is, new websites don’t start in a content model any more. They start in a coding agent. Someone opens Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, describes the site, and an hour later there’s a repository with pages, components and copy in it. Contentful’s model assumes you’ll design content types first (the field-by-field templates every page and button has to fit), build a front end that fetches from them, and move your copy in. Your agent already wrote the pages, so being agnostic about a front end you’ll never build isn’t worth much. Fimo starts from that repository. It flips the assumption: instead of being agnostic about the front end, be agnostic about the code and about the agent that wrote it. You connect the project your agent produced, whatever the stack and whoever wrote it. The agent, with the Fimo skills installed, makes the content it wrote editable in Fimo’s own CMS, your marketers change it on the live page, the site is served server-rendered so crawlers get finished HTML, and agents run on the content and the code alike for SEO, broken links, page speed and translations, each run landing in a branch you review before it merges. People choose Contentful for good reasons. It feeds the same content to a website, an app and a kiosk, more than 4,800 brands run on it, its APIs handled 180 billion calls a month by mid-2026, and its marketplace runs past 20,000 apps and integrations. If your website is one of six channels, that’s the job. The Contentful path is model, build, fetch, host. You define content types, developers wire components to the Delivery API (the read-only feed your site pulls copy from), you pick a host, and the copy then lives in Contentful’s Spaces (one container per project) while the code lives somewhere else. Visual editing means Studio on the Enterprise plan, and a second project means a second Space, $850 a month on Lite per Contentful’s July 2026 pricing page. On a marketing site that came out of Codex or Cursor, it means the marketer who wants a new kind of section waits for a developer to add the type, wire a component to it and deploy, and then Studio, if you’re on Enterprise, lets them arrange it. An agent in Claude Code, Cursor or ChatGPT connects to mcp.contentful.com and reads and writes entries, assets and content types, with admins choosing per Space which tools are allowed and whether each is read-only. It’s still a CMS being handed to an agent, though: it can change entries, and the pages that render them stay out of reach. Fimo has the content and the site’s code, so the agent that built the site and [Fimo’s own agents](/agentic-cms) work on both: a heading, the component under it and the redirect in front of it, in one run. --- Spaces and locales ## What a second brand and a third language cost On Contentful’s own pricing page as of July 2026, Free includes one Starter Space and two locales (one locale is one language version), Lite adds a third locale and one optional Lite Space at $850 a month, and multi-brand and franchise setups are pointed at Enterprise, where Spaces and locales are custom-priced. Fimo has no equivalent line. A Fimo project is one website: three are free, the paid plans set no limit on them, and adding a language is the translation agent’s job, with no per-locale fee. --- Credit where due ## What Contentful does well ### Multi-channel structured content Contentful started in 2014 because the CMSs of the day couldn't feed native mobile apps, and that's still the strongest reason to pick it. If the same product description has to appear on a website, an iOS app and a partner feed, structured entries behind one API are a good answer. ### The marketplace and the enterprise integrations More than 20,000 apps and integrations, an App Framework for building your own, webhooks that ping other systems when content changes, and native Salesforce integration promised in the acquisition release. Fimo can’t match that reach today and doesn’t try to. ### Governance and compliance on Enterprise Single sign-on and SCIM user provisioning, custom and tag-based permissions, embargoed assets, EU data residency, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS, up to a 99.99% uptime SLA. The honest path ### Export, rebuild with your agent, connect Fimo Export your entries and assets as JSON (Contentful's CLI, its command-line tool, does it), hand that to your coding agent, with the Fimo skills installed, to rebuild each content type as editable content in Fimo, keeping the components it already wrote. References between entries and embedded rich text are the fiddly parts, so check those by hand. A few dozen pages is a day or two of agent time plus review, then you connect the repository to Fimo. What you stop paying for ### Lite's $300, the $850 Space and the separate host go The locale ceiling goes with them, and hosting, CDN and SSL arrive inside the plan rather than on a second invoice. Yes, one is included. Content is stored in Fimo and edited on the page or through structured fields, like any headless CMS. The difference is scope: Fimo also has the site's code, so it hosts the site, previews changes before they go live and runs agents on it. ### Is Contentful owned by Salesforce? Yes. Salesforce signed on 1 June 2026 and completed the deal on 1 September 2026, twelve years after Contentful was founded. ### Is Contentful Studio included in the Lite plan? No. Contentful’s pricing page says Studio "can be used with an Enterprise Platform plan", and the same wording covers Personalization and AI Actions. ### How much does a second website cost on Contentful? One extra Lite Space at $850 a month, limited to one, with 50 content types, 50,000 records and 2 million extra API calls a month (Contentful's pricing page, July 2026). Past that it's Enterprise and custom pricing. ### Can Claude Code or Cursor work with Contentful? Yes. Contentful's MCP server (hosted, or a local open-source version) reads and writes entries, assets and content types wherever an admin has allowed it, and Contentful's docs list Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and ChatGPT as clients. ### What are the limits on Contentful's free plan? Ten users, two roles, two locales, 100,000 API calls and 50 GB a month, one Starter Space and a 50 MB cap per uploaded asset (Contentful's pricing page, July 2026), with no overages, so when an allowance runs out the calls stop rather than cost more. ### Can I write content through Contentful's GraphQL API? No. The GraphQL Content API (the query language many frontends use to fetch content) is read-only and caps queries at 8 KB, with the workaround for bigger queries reserved for the top plan, so writes go through the Management API or the MCP server. ### Fimo is built by the Strapi team. Is it open source like Strapi? No. Strapi is open source and self-hostable, and Fimo is a hosted platform from the same founders, though your site stays ordinary framework code with a Git history you can clone. ### Which frameworks and coding agents does Fimo work with? Whatever your agent produced.
