# SEO monitoring that _writes the report_.

A page drops out of Google and nobody notices for weeks. Your [SEO agent](/agents/seo) flags problems the day they happen, and sends a report in plain words every week.

## What is SEO monitoring?

SEO monitoring is the continuous tracking of [how a site performs in search](/features/seo-geo): where its pages rank, how many clicks they earn, and what changed since the last check. It also includes website health monitoring, the technical side that checks pages are indexed, redirects work and links are not broken. Unlike a one-off audit, it runs every day and after every publish, so a technical error or a slow slide in rankings is caught before it shows up in your traffic and revenue.

## Why you need an SEO monitoring process.

For most sites, Google is the biggest source of website traffic, ahead of ads and social media. Yet many teams look at their SEO once a month, in a report built by hand. Between two checks, a single publish can remove a page from Google, and a page that falls from the top three to page two loses almost all of its clicks. With AI Overviews now answering many searches directly, each click is harder to win, and harder to win back. A monitoring process turns those surprises into same-day alerts, with a clear next step for each one.

- 53%

of trackable website traffic comes from organic search.

- 27.6%

of clicks go to the first result on Google.

- 0.63%

of searchers click on a result from the second page.

## What can break after a publish.

Small changes, big drops. These are the ones the SEO agent watches for every time your site changes.

- ### A page hidden from Google

A noindex tag left over from a draft, and the page quietly disappears from the search results.

- ### A page deleted without a redirect

When you rename a page, Fimo redirects the old address automatically. When a page is deleted, old links and rankings point to nothing, and visitors land on an error.

- ### A title or heading rewritten

The words people search for are gone, and the page slips down the results week after week.

- ### Broken links and missing pages

Visitors and Google hit dead ends instead of your content, and both lose trust in the site.

---

## How it works.

Every day, four steps. You only read the result.

1. ### Watches every publish

Fimo hosts your site, so the SEO agent sees each change the moment it goes live: titles, links, redirects and indexing.

2. ### Reads your numbers

It checks Search Console every day, and your analytics when you connect them: clicks, click-through rates, positions and engagement metrics.

3. ### Flags what dropped

When a page loses clicks or a change breaks something, it tells you what happened, when, and which publish caused it.

4. ### Sends the report

Every week, a short report reaches you in Fimo or by email: what grew, what dropped, and what to do next.

---

## What it catches.

One publish, one alert. An example of what the SEO agent flags, with the change highlighted.

/repairs

- **Noindex tag: can people find the page on Google?**: Before:Yes, the repairs page shows up in search
- After: No. Tuesday’s publish hid it from Google by mistake
- **Clicks per day**: Before:180 people reach the page from Google
- After: 42, three days later
- **Position on “waxed jacket repair”**: Before:3rd result, on page one
- After: 18th, on page two, where almost nobody clicks

---

## What you get.

- ### Problems caught early

A page that drops out of Google is flagged the day it happens, not at the end of the month.

- ### A report nobody has to build

Clicks, rankings and your best pages, written up in plain words. No spreadsheet, no dashboard to open.

- ### Content performance, page by page

See which pages and blog posts bring traffic, leads and conversions, and which have stopped working. Your marketing team knows where to spend its time.

---

## What’s in a weekly report.

The same structure every week, so your team reads it in a few minutes and knows where to act.

- ### Traffic and visibility

Clicks, impressions, average click-through rate and average position from Google Search Console, compared with the previous week, so a seasonal dip is not mistaken for a real problem.

- ### Pages that grew and pages that dropped

The biggest winners and losers of the week, each with its likely cause: a recent publish, a lost position on an important search, or a change in search demand.

- ### Issues to fix, by traffic at risk

Pages Google can no longer index, missing redirects, broken links and pages that load slowly, ranked by the traffic they put at risk rather than by technical severity.

- ### Next steps

A short list of recommended actions, each linked to the page concerned, so the report turns into work for the right agent or person instead of sitting unread in an inbox.

## Works with your tools.

Search Console is all it needs. Google Analytics adds visits, Semrush or Ahrefs your rankings.

## Questions about SEO monitoring.

Straight answers.

### What is an SEO reporting tool?

Software that pulls your search data, like clicks, rankings and traffic, into automated reports. Most SEO reporting tools stop at the dashboard: you still have to read it and decide what to do. The SEO agent writes the report in plain words, with actionable insights and what needs attention first. Because Fimo also hosts your site, it can connect a change in traffic to the exact publish behind it, something an external reporting tool cannot see.

### What should an automated SEO report include?

Clicks and impressions from Google, the pages that grew and the ones that dropped, your positions on the searches that matter, and technical problems such as pages Google can no longer index. The SEO agent’s weekly report covers all of it, with the next steps for your SEO strategy. Connect Semrush or Ahrefs to add the search volume of each search.

### How do SEO alerts work?

The SEO agent checks your site and your numbers every day. When something breaks, like a page set to noindex, a missing redirect or a sudden drop in clicks, it tells you the same day instead of waiting for the weekly report.

### What is content analytics?

Content analytics shows how each page and blog post performs: the traffic it brings, how visitors behave on it, and whether it leads to conversions, like a purchase, a sign-up or a contact request. The SEO agent reads it from Search Console and Google Analytics, and turns it into a few clear lines in the weekly report: which topics attract qualified visitors, which formats keep them reading, and which pages quietly lose their audience.

### How do I measure content ROI?

Compare what a page brings, like visits, leads or sales, with the time it takes to make and keep up to date. Connect Google Analytics with your conversions set up, and the SEO agent shows which pages serve your business goals and which bring little.

### Does it replace an SEO audit?

No, it completes it. A site audit is a snapshot: it finds what is wrong on one day. SEO monitoring runs every day, so problems are caught after each publish, between two audits. The SEO agent’s technical SEO routine runs the full audit, then fixes what it can.

### Which SEO metrics should I monitor?

Start with the metrics Google Search Console provides: clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, per page and per search. Add the number of indexed pages, which reveals technical problems, and, once Google Analytics is connected, conversions per landing page, which connects SEO performance to revenue. Rankings for a handful of strategic searches, tracked with Semrush or Ahrefs, complete the picture.

### What is a good click-through rate?

It depends on the position. According to Backlinko’s study of 4 million Google search results, the first result receives about 27.6% of clicks on average, while results further down the first page receive only a few percent. Compare each page with its own average for a similar position rather than with a universal benchmark: a click-through rate well below that average usually means the title and description no longer match what people are searching for. Benchmarks are also shifting with AI Overviews: in a 2025 Pew Research Center study, people clicked a traditional result in 8% of Google searches that showed an AI summary, against 15% without one. Watching each page’s own trend tells you more than any industry average. ### How often should I check my SEO?

Technical health deserves a daily check, because a single publish can remove a page from Google overnight. Traffic and rankings are best read weekly, since daily numbers fluctuate too much to be meaningful. Strategy, meaning which topics to invest in and which pages to retire, works on a monthly or quarterly rhythm. The SEO agent follows the first two cycles automatically and gives you the material for the third.

### Where do I get the reports and alerts?

In Fimo, where your agents report on their work, or by email, so the whole team sees it without logging in.

### Does it fix what it finds?

Yes. Monitoring is one of the SEO agent’s routines, and the same agent runs the [technical SEO](/agents/technical-seo) and [broken links](/agents/broken-links) routines that fix what it finds, like a missing redirect, a page set to noindex or a dead link. When the fix is about content, such as a page losing clicks to fresher competitors, your content agent takes it over with a [content refresh](/agents/content-refresh). Either way, the changes go live on their own or after your approval in a preview.

### How is this different from Google Search Console?

Search Console shows the numbers, but only if someone opens it and knows where to look. The SEO agent reads it for you every day, connects each drop to the change that caused it, and tells you in plain words. It also puts searches, pages and publishes side by side, where Search Console shows them in separate reports.

### Do I need Google Analytics or Semrush?

No. Search Console is enough to start. Connect Google Analytics to see visits per page, and Semrush or Ahrefs to follow your rankings against competitors.

### Which plan includes it?

Every plan, Free included: the SEO and GEO agents run on all plans. Paid plans add more AI credits and agent-hours. See the pricing page for the details.
